Do you have any movie watching pet peeves? Discuss them here.
For me its getting to a movie after the trailers have started, people who ask questions about every damn scene, and the occasional loud group in the back.

I yelled at a woman during Knowing last weekend when she answered her phone not once but twice.

Similar thing happened to me and my brothers when we saw Bourne Ultimatum. Some huge lady next to us has her phone go off for a few minutes than finally answers it and talks pretty loud for about five minutes. It happened twice that night.

Did you yell at her?
I gave her a pass the first time but when it happened again, I'd had enough.
It happened last year as well during Funny Games and I nearly got into a fight/shot in the parking lot of the theatre because of it.

Re: Movie watching pet peeves?
The same as everyone else's - people who talk. Whether it's someone I'm with or other people in the theater, I just want everyone to shut up and watch the movie. I usually don't have a problem with this since I go in the afternoon and the crowds are lighter, but occasionally I'll get a couple who just talk about what's happening on screen. When I saw Watchmen on Friday I went very early and there were about six or seven other people in the theater. One couple came in late and they proceeded to talk throughout parts of the movie. I was far enough away to where it didn't really bother me, but to hear the occasional murmur was annoying enough.
Also, people who come in late. I don't really mind people who come in late if I'm seeing a film during the week because they're probably coming from work or school, but on the weekend it's pathetic. You know what time a film starts, you show up late 5-15 minutes late, and now you want me to stand up so you can get in my row? Fuck off. Go sit in the front.
My other pet peeves are presentation related. I'm not one to usually get up and complain but if the film is horribly framed, if the sound is slightly off (for the first half of Watchmen the sound was slightly gargled), if the curtains aren't opened up all the way and the film is cut off (and the point of curtains on a movie screen again is what?), I'll get up and do so.
For everything else though I usually sit in the back row so I'm not really effected by anything unless it's extremely busy.

Re: Movie watching pet peeves?
I'm mean when I'm driving and have to deal with idiots on the road, and I'm mean when I go to the movies and get bothered by inconsiderate retards.
A few years back, I yelled back to a couple who thought that talking at speaking volume throughout the movie was acceptable. I yelled back "I hope the movie isn't interrupting your conversation", and they shut up.
If somebody kicks my seat once, I'll make a comment loud enough to be heard that I felt it. If it happens a second time, I turn around and say something.
Don't bring a crying baby to a movie I paid to see, or be prepared to have a comment made from me.

Re: Movie watching pet peeves?
yah, the baby thing kills me. I know you want a night out and don't want to gag the baby for the movie but if it is crying, please leave the theater. ( and don't stand near the inside exit either ).
talking yes...
sticky floors with gum, candy and soda...
in a pretty empty theater where someone sits right behind or in front of you.
noisy candy/popcorn eaters ( also people don;t realize that is a quiet theater, bags make alot of annoying noise.)
and in a couple of theaters, guess they just want anyone who pays, let you bring in any foog you want > so it is really annoying when they bring in a full/stinky/noisy dinner. (But next time I go, I am tempted to bring in a pizza > hey at least that would be quiet.)
Bad sound. I never see very bad picture quality and I don't mind dirty film reels, but barely audible sound is irritating.

It's never happened, so I don't know. It's always some dumb young punk kid with a lack of self control that kicks the seat, and a little intimidation seems to teach those types to pay attention better to what they are doing and if it may or may not be annoying others.

Re: Movie watching pet peeves?
Well, almost every movie I watch is either at the theater I work at, or at the theater where I know almost all the guys who work there, so if I get annoyed with anyone, I either tell them to knock it off, or get someone to do it. I have almost thrown a couple of old guys out of a theater, while I was off the clock, chilling in a movie.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

I saw Watchmen with my mother. She said, within the first 3 minutes, "Richard Nixon wasn't elected more then 3 times" and I knew she would not "get" the film -- though I figured that would be the case.
I dislike anyone watching a complex movie, that they know another person has not saw, and nonetheless asking questions that the other party has no possible way of knowing.

I hate it when people complain that I'm kicking the back of their chair. Then again, I only do it when I'm around Cork.

Me and my bros just gave her a look (just because we didn;t want to interrupt the full crowd). She then gave us a look like "You can't tell me what to do".

Bad projection -- out of focus, too big for the screen, etc. Bad sound -- pop, hiss, pop, hiss
I can (barely) tolerate annoying crowds -- to a certain degree -- but if the movie isn't shown properly, it's torture, especially when complaints go ignored.

Chair kicking, talking, phones ringing, sound is off, picture is off, lights not dimmed, babies, children, people sitting next to me that I don't know.
