I remember when Project Greenlight released Stolen Summer, or Hidden Summer, a movie along that line of title. Anyways, that's when I learned Greenlight was a production company that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck pulled together to support smalled directors and the indie film scene. Great!

But I guess its a regular thing they do every summer? Have then been helping release movies, one per year, for awhile? I've been seeing adds for them all over the subway reading "Learn od the horrors of making a movie." It has them looking at a head on the floor. So I don't think it's a production of their's though, unless they helped underwrite a documentary about themselves, which seems kind of odd.

Can someone pleases fill me into the details of project greenlight? Are their movies any good?

Stolen Summer wasn't very good (coming of age story involving religion). The documentary itself was entertaining. Lots of drama.

Battle of Shaker Heights wasn't very good (coming of age story not involving religion). The documentary was even better. New twist was picking a winner amoung directors and a winner amoung screenwriters and throwing them together.

Feast (not a coming of age story). So far the best season yet for the documentary series.

Follow that link, I would love to see more interest in the show.

For three or four years there has been an annual contest, submit your screenplay.. The 'winner' gets a budget to make his movie.. A secondary crew documents the 'drama' of producing a movie.. One slant a year or two ago was that the 'documentry crew' seemed to encourage filming of the most trying(i.e. failure) moments.. Perhaps even setting up failures.. But basically looking for angst in a pre-conceived storyline...... so what else is new??

They have a website at...

http://www.projectgreenlight.com/

They used to have a great forum that Lady Eowyn and I posted at all the time, and when we met in real life, it was through a Project Greenlight screenwriters thing that she organized. We met quite a few people from there. It sucks that the forums aren't there anymore. As if Affleck and Damon can't support the bill...lol
