http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10007441-fall/ ![]() Quote: Award-winning music video, commercial and film director Tarsem Singh (The Cell) creates a moving and seamless blending of mundane life in a 1915 Los Angeles hospital with a visually sumptuous fantasy world of exotic bandits, evil tyrants, dream-like palaces and breathtaking landscapes. Shot on location in 28 countries around the world, The Fall stars Golden Globe nominated actor Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies, Infamous, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) and Justine Waddell (Mansfield Park, Chaos) and features a breakthrough performance by first-time Romanian child actress Catinca Untaru Anybody seen it yet? Thoughts? |

loyalfromlondon wrote: Ohhhhh, I saw it last week. from the Everyone's A Critic thread Quote: Man oh man... For starters, Tarsem shot this fucker on FOUR CONTINENTS and in about 12 countries. And boy is it beautiful. A+ The story is equal parts Pan's Labyrinth and The Princess Bride. And it works only about 50% of the time. D+ I don't know how to grade it. If the story had worked, this would have been one of the masterpieces of the year. As it is, I have to give it something in the C range. It hurts because you know a lot of work went into this film. I remember reading that now. I'm thinking this (and I'll try to really get my thoughts out later)... Cinematography - amazing Score - phenomenal Acting - pretty great Story - good (the fantasy), great (the 15 minutes before the ending), ok (the "modern" story) and really bad (after the conclusion in the fantasy story). So. I'm gonna go with a B- for now. Maybe a C+. I honestly walked out, turned to my friend and said "WTF did we just watch"? Sigh. I agree, it pains me that I didn't like it as much as I hoped. It was obviously a work of passion, but just...not the right type. |

Was she supposed to be hispanic? Because she sure wasn't speaking Spanish. The whole time she was there was just very awkward. |

Exactly. Also, the lengthy stunt scene at the end just needed to be cut. That was insanely dull. |

Oh no! I did not like this very much at all. Tarsem has to be one of the most self-satisfied directors I've ever witnessed...which wouldn't be that much of an issue had this film been good. Which it isn't. Not even close. |

It was like it could have been good but it almost had this faux-grandiosity about it that made it not work. |
