50 Greatest Independent Films
Empire Magazine has posted a list of their picks for the
50 Greatest Independent Films...
While my own top 50 would be quite different, there are definitely some great indies on there such as:
Cube, Roger and Me, In the Company of Men, Stranger Than Paradise, Eraserhead, THX-1138, Shallow Grave, and Blood Simple.
I find these lists, if nothing else, a good starting point - something to push against. They also remind me of some of the (hopefully) great movies I am saving to see for the first time as a future treat for myself (eg: Mean Streets, Donnie Darko, Happiness, Amores Perros, Run Lola Run, etc.)...
