Gedo Senki, an adaptation of Ursula K. Le Guin's novel "A Wizard of Earthsea," the first book of the award-winning Earthsea cycle which includes "The Tombs of Atuan," "The Farthest Shore" and "Tehanu".

"Wizard of Earthsea" centers on Ged, who was the greatest sorcerer in all Earthsea. He was once called Sparrowhawk, a reckless youth, hungry for power and knowledge, who tampered with long-held secrets and loosed a terrible shadow upon the world. It's the tale of his testing, how he mastered the mighty words of power, tamed an ancient dragon, and crossed death's threshold to restore the balance.

The film is directed by Hayao Miyazaki's son, Goro, and is scheduled for release July, 2006 in Japan.

I'm definitely one of the forums Miyazaki/Ghibli fanboys (hi box, PE1:))...and I've only seen about 5-6 of their films. Honestly some of the most consistently quality films from any one director I've seen. (+ Fireflies)

And, Ive really enjoyed the few LeGuin short stories I've read.

So I'm excited like whoa.

ps, lets make an effort to bring back "like whoa." It didnt get nearly as annoying as it could/should have back in ninety-nine.

Yeesh. I haven't seen Fireflies yet. Anyways...

Miyazaki's son, eh? Should be very interesting. (I hope, in a good way.) I still hope Miyazaki releases at least one more film, Howl being his last film wouldn't be very pleasing.
