I hope the Weinstein Company sinks. All of their recent releases were overbudgeted films that never should have been greenlit. |

Many good movies are still sitting in Miramax's vaults (like TEARS OF THE BLACK TIGER, DOBERMANN, Shaw Brothers's movies, etc....) I hope that Disney will give them at least a straight-to-DVD release. |

Hmmmmm, well I didn't realize so many movies weren't getting release dates out of Miramax. i like the split. For a long time i've felt disney has exerted a certain influence over Miramax, and that those big budget high-gloss films are in part a side effect of it. Disney wants to retain a certain level of homogeny even in its subsidiaries. About content, high Hollywood, etc. This could be a big change in indie film distribution. Along which, I'm glad this is the first news I've heard of film companies moving away from conglomerization rather towards it. A movie I welcome. I don't think ever distributor has to be teenie, and that's not only ineffective but also limits access to films. I do however think the pyramid has way to small a peak and wide a base right now. |
