Post subject: | Fantasy Film Festival - Day 1 - Crash and Sin City |
Last year, I saw movies like Open Water, Ginger Snaps Back and Saw a while before their US release at the festival. This year, doesn't quite have as strong of a line-up as last year, but I'll still be going. Here's the timetable: http://www.fantasyfilmfest.com/fantasy/ ... le_Ksw.pdf I was wondering if any of you could recommend me some movies and tell me at löeast what movies they would go and see... The ones I'll be seeing for sure are Sin City and Shutter (because of makeshift's recommendation) |

![]() ![]() And did anyone catch the fast and furious parody title? Too fat too furious? Sorry Lecer, I have no idea about most of these. I do agree with the above suggestion to see Godzilla with heavy crowds. Also, check out The President's Barber. Mostly because of the title, and could be interesting. |

New one is basically straight to TV Musical Comedy...Same subject matter (evils of pot), but l found it hilarious. Way over the top and outrageous. Definitely not to be take seriously. Maybe even a so bad it's good complex. But, yeah...very funny. ![]() |

2005 Reefer Madness is a Showtime Cable Musical movie based on the origional and especially the stage show which has been going on for awhile. In fact, the actors that are non-pre-established-stars are all from the stage shows. It's a little long but pretty good. "Come on Jimmy, Come on Jimmy, suck it down for Sally / Come on Jimmy, Come on Jimmy, suck it down for Sally" http://www.reefermadness.org/ "Jimmy don't turn your back on God." |

Listen to Jesus, Jimmy is one of the most infectious songs I've ever heard in a musical. |

Oh, I saw Casshern ages ago...the one from Japan right! Very good. I started a thread about it in the Cinemania section when we all first moved to this KJ forum. I don't think anyone ever replied...maybe they didn't have the foggiest what I was talking about! I was searching for that, my Whale Rider, and Beowulf & Grendel threads, but they all seem to be gone now...I think they were lost in the server changeover. Anyhooo...here's the official link to the Casshern film! http://www.casshern.com/ |

Spoken by a true horror fan. ![]() I'm surprised you didn't list Sin City as you like it a lot. I already own Malevolence on DVD, so I won't be seeing that one. I'll definitely see The Descent, Shutter, Satan's Little Helper and The Devil's Rejects. Primer sounds interesting as well, I'll see if I can fit it into the schedule. Never heard of 2001 Maniacs... |

Ok, the ones I´ve seen: Malevolence: Bad to the point of laughs all the way and an ironic standing ovation at Sitges. You own it on DVD? Sadomasochist! Hair high: If you like Bill Plympton, you´ll love it. Check it out, It´s interesting (although not perfect) animation. Una de zombis: Stupid spanish comedy. I don´t mean stupid as an insult, the movies itself wears that badge with pride. I laughed a few times. Not sure how some of the humour will translate, though! Primer: Still, to this day, don´t know what the movie was about. Fascinating, maybe, but fascination can only get you as far as a few minutes when you don´t have a clue what´s going on... They came back: I was so looking forward to this film... A goreless zombie flick that wonders what would happen if the dead would come back to life looking good, but basically as mentally handicapped people. What do we do with them, how do families cope? And what about social security, health services, employment... The premise is so interesting, but the film failed to fulfill it so much... :???: Arsene Lupin: Ok adventure film, although It goes on for far too long and the main actors lacks charisma. I got a bit bored but Kristin Scott Thomas is fantastic as usual. |

Trashy-kitsch-over-the-top-midnight-session type of fun, but fun nevertheless... |
