I'm officially in love with N. Jordan. It's hopeless.
So I rented Mona Lisa this past weekend. It floored me. It's almost as good as The Crying Game, Jordan's (in)famous thriller/love story... this one is VERY similar. The discussion is probably a bit different and there aren't as many twists. Mona Lisa lacks the optimistic ending of CG but the film is definitely in the same spirit. Jordan even got an androgynous African for the female lead, heh. Hoskins floored me. Talk about the most overlooked actor in ages. I'd seen him in random things, here and there - Brazil off the top of my head - but he was superb. He should have taken the Oscar home. Jordan's films are something - at least these two (Don't mention some of his newer stuff - like Breakfast...). They leave me thinking, that's for sure. The ending was kind of... harsh and real. I loved it. I can't recommend this film enough. Please tell me everyone else likes/loves it?
