I guess this is counter-programming for War of the Worlds?
ANyways, Tropical Malady comes out this wednesday, and it actually looks quite interesting. It might be problematic, and the critics aren't loving it, but the problems may arise from its tackling of Thai myth and how inaccessable that myth is to theatre goers.
Its classified as a "fantasy" film due to its merging of a love/attraction story with elements of phantasms. WHile reading the synopsis I had a vague sense of Black Orpheus (I know, not the same country at all) and an even greater sense of Gauguin. I love Gauguin, he's one of my most beloved painters. Granted, he was full of bs, but that's probably why I loved him so much.

For anyone interested in Macabre imagery, of which I am...immensly, this may be the film for you!
