I'm sensing this will be a pretty huge year, between The Revenant/Leo, Oscar Controversy, and Chris Rock hosting. Think it'll be the biggest since 1998. |

But all the blacks will "boycott", so expect a record year of 60m viewers. |

34 million viewers - that's close to the lowest ever. Not good. Peace, Mike |

Weird, I thought the allure of Leo would bring in the viewings, but I think the Oscars So White campaign worked. |

2016 Grammy's got 25 m viewers while they were at 28.5 m two years ago. The Golden Globes got 18.5 m this year. At 34 m considering these Oscars got the most publicity of any potentially ever, there's the chance that the 34 m was inflated even more than what it could have done without the publicity. The Oscars better re-tool because they very well could get below 30 m one of these years at this rate. |

Weird considering there were 3 mega hits this year, and only one last year. |

The Oscars used to be cool/must see tv. Now it's just another award show. Kinda sad |

Kinda sad Yes, it's not like there have been other awards shows in the past. ![]() The only explanation is the #OscarsSoWhite boycott worked. This year's Best picture nominees sold over 12 million more tickets than last year's, no other reason for less interest. |

I think this is attributable in large part to the lack of AA interest. Viewership was much higher two years ago (when 12YAS won). |

It isn't a big surprise that these were least viewed. Blacks are a HUGE part of the community. Next year we will see an uptick with some non-deserving high profile Black actor/actress wins. |
