 Re: Best Makeup finalists
I just realized that this could be the TOM HARDY CATEGORY.

 Re: Best Makeup finalists
Surprised by a couple films not on the list. The Force Awakens obviously, but also a few critical and financial duds which nonetheless seemed ripe for a nomination in this idiosyncratic category: Jupiter Ascending, for example, or Pan or In the Heart of the Sea.
The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared came well out of left field, but I suspect it has extensive aging F/X.
I wonder what in Concussion turned their heads. Turning David Morse into a hairy football player-turned-homeless man?

 Re: Best Makeup finalists
Jupiter Ascending actually deserves quite a bit technical recognition.
But it is a badly-reviewed February-released financial dud. It could have Jurassic-Park-level milestone-achieving effects and would still not get any noms.
The actually surprising snub is, IMO, The Danish Girl.

 Re: Best Makeup finalists
They nominated The Lone Ranger, Norbit, The Time Machine, and The Wolf Man in this category. Jupiter Ascending would not be so insane an inclusion based on their history. Though they did snub Cloud Atlas, so perhaps you are correct.
The Danish Girl is a surprising omission, yes.

 Re: Best Makeup finalists
The Cloud Atlas snub was ridiculous.

 Re: Best Makeup finalists
The only one I'm surprised isn't included is The Danish Girl.
