Mad Max getting snubbed for BP nom (but Miller still getting nominated). I know I predicted it in the other thread and it is by all means the reasonable thing to do, but my gut feeling says that it is too cool for the Academy.

Sicario getting nominated for Best Picture. That I do believe in.

Bryan Cranston snubbed for Trumbo.

The Hateful Eight getting no more than two nominations in total.

Creed nominated for something other than Stallone.

DiCaprio not winning Best Actor.

The Revenant to win Best Picture.

Oscar nominations Algren.

The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road tying for most nominations - 11.
Inside Out getting a Best Picture nomination.
10 Nominees for Best Picture.

It's about really major surprises, your first two don't really qualify as such I am predicting Inside Out for a BP nom as well, but I don't think it would be a shocker.

Spotlight will only have two nominations - Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

Looking at my Oscar predictions the most crazy ones would be the nominations for Rampling and Stewart in actress and supporting actress respectively, but I don't think they are too outrageous.

Although I'm not predicting it, wouldn't be surprised if F. Gary Gray gets a directing nomination.

A nomination for Jacob Tremblay.

Star Wars TFA winning anything other than technical categories

I would like say an acting nom for Mad Max or Hateful Eight, but the former is losing steam fast and the latter has had only one good showing with the BAFTA nominations.

Jennifer Jason Leigh has a strong shot at a Supporting Actress nom, though. Mad Max...Charlize could get in if they go bonkers for Mad Max and hate Joy/45 Years.

Spotlight gets no acting noms.
Kristen Stewart gets a nomination

Spotlight getting no acting noms is actually a likely scenario.

No, I think McAdams will get in, but it is far from a lock.

I'm still predicting noms for Ruffalo and McAdams, but (sadly, for me) it seems distinctly possible both will miss.

Both of the supporting categories are just a giant mess with all the category fraud in Supporting Actress and the sheer number of contenders in Supporting Actor, so it's just so hard to say.

The crazy thing is that Mark Rylance is the ONLY really safe candidate for the Supporting Actor nom, yet it just doesn't seem all too likely that he will win...

Still think he is the frontrunner, given how Bridge of Spies performed at BAFTA.

I do not particularly believe in these, but for fun:

- No Alejandro G. Iñárritu in Best Director (McCarthy/McKay/Miller/Scott and Haynes or Spielberg)
- The Danish Girl or Joy nominated for Best Picture

No Alejandro? Yeah, gutsy call, especially after he just won the Globe

Well, he is English. I know the Academy are made up of a ton of Brits too, but they also have Yanks. Stallone is the frontrunner for me.

It's worth pointing out that DDL is the only actor ever to win an Oscar for a Spielberg film. 9 BP nominations dating back 40 years and yet Lincoln was the only film to win an Acting category.
