I agree. Its feminist themes seem to be resonating well with the film community. Also Miller seems to be popular amongst a liberal Hollywood, remember Happy Feet "upset" Cars.

It has a better chance at actress than picture.

All this movie is is spectacle. The story is way too weak.

Maybe. But will be hard to beat Carol which should do well in the techs also with 2 likely acting nominations (is a threat in Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actress, Editing, Screenplay, Score, Cinematography, Costume Design, Production Design, I think)

The Martian is still the favorite to have the most nominations IMO: Picture/Director/Actor/Screenplay/Editing/Cinematography/PD/VE/Sound*2 for 10 total, so it could miss say Actor or Screenplay and still get 9, and 8 seems to be the minimum for it.

Editing will be a stretch for Carol, but Production Design does tend to go hand-in-hand with Costume Design,

With such a large group of tech heavy BP contenders, I'm curious which film will lead all other nominees. My pick - The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road will tie with 11 nominations apiece
