So, coming into this year, I always figured it was Leo's to lose with The Revenant. Fassbender looks to be making a wave with Macbeth. Depp also looks incredible in Black Mass. Obviously none have been screened yet, but what other contenders could there be? |

Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl. |

Eddie Redmayne could put on the greatest performance anyone has ever seen in the history of performances and there is 0% chance he'll win this year. |

I'd say if that film is critically lauded and his performance as well. I'd give him a good shot at a double even against Leo who the Academy doesn't care for. |

Depp doesn't stand a chance. |

I don't think he'll win, but he will be a major contender. |

It is near impossible to win two straight last time was Tom Hanks and Redmayne isn't Hanks. Speaking of Hanks, he is probably contender as well. |

Fassbender could be double-nominated for Steve Jobs. |

I think Ian Mckellen is a candidate. He is the best thing about Mr. Holmes so he has a shot. |

Some of those may be in with a shot, but I highly doubt it will be so full of world-class stars like that. There will be a few lesser known people. |

Looking at the potential slate, I can't imagine DiCaprio is not going to win this. Fassbender is bound to have a good year though and get a nomination. I'm not sure what the Redmayne fuss is about, I only saw him in Jupiter Ascending, and well, no-one shined in that movie anyway. I'm missing Bradley Cooper on this list though, I'm sure he's going to get a nom. Btw. Bradley was married to Jennifer Esposito once, funny, that was when she was more famous then him I think. She's hot, and I wonder what happened between them. I guess Bradley does seem a bit douchy, but a great actor no doubt. |

DiCaprio won't even get a nomination, in my opinion. |

Unless critics trash this film he will be nominated. Yeah, and you're saying all of that without even seeing his performance. Not much acting is always required in a western. It's not necessarily going to be a meaty role. I just feel that despite all it has going for it, you'll be dumbfounded when it receives either nothing or just a few technical nods. I love how cocksure everyone is on WOKJ, but let's just remember that NOBODY predicted American Sniper to break out as it did. NOBODY predicted Jurassic World to break out as it did. NOBODY predicted even Lucy to break out as it did. So despite what you all think of yourselves, you're not that fantastic when it comes to predictions, especially as far out as 6 months from release. |

Oh don't believe me. Also if you don't think that role is meaty you haven't read the synopsis. Do that first. All I know is that if any film gets a Oscar campaign this will be one of them. |

I didn't state my opinion on the role. But having read the plot, it sounds awesome. However, it is only a revenge film. We've seen it a thousand times before. I don't think it'll get nominated. On a related note; Brett Ratner's production company helped fund the film. It kind of puts a sick taste in your mouth knowing that Ratner is close to this. |

We all predicted American Sniper, Jurassic World AND Lucy to break out. Sure, none of us predicting that they would break out as big as they did, but we could all see it. |

Proves my point...any moron can predict it correctly a week before it comes out. |

Apparently Leonardo DiCaprio has almost no lines in The Revenant. |
