Strong category this year! Each film is an interesting and beautiful visual achievement in its own way, from the pop coloring and aspect-ratio storytelling of The Grand Budapest Hotel to the Bresson-esque B&W austerity of Ida and so on. My choice is Mr. Turner, though. It is the most finely photographed film of last year. |

It would be embarrassing if Birdman loses this cat. |

1. Ida 2. Mr. Turner 3. The Grand Budapest Hotel 4. Birdman 5. Unbroken I'm so happy Ida showed up here. Incredibly deserving. |
