Ranking it is. 1. Whiplash ... ... ... 2. Birdman 3. Boyhood 4. The Theory of Everything 5. The Imitation Game 6. The Grand Budapest Hotel Daaaaamn. The fact that I keep bitching about Boyhood and it is STILL my third-favorite nominees actually says a lot about this year's batch. I would not have nominated a single of those, except Whiplash. Hell, I would not have nominated Interstellar or Gone Girl, but I would still have preferred them to almost all of the nominees this year. |

If I were to categorize my list, it would be: LOVE 1. Boyhood 2. The Grand Budapest Hotel 3. Whiplash HIGHLY ENJOY/ADMIRE 4. Selma ENJOY/ADMIRE, BUT A NOTCH BELOW "HIGHLY"  5. The Imitation Game 6. The Theory of Everything EH, BUT NEAT PHOTOGRAPHY 7. Birdman |

Sorry if I'm not going to shell out $75 to see a bunch of movies in theaters I might not like just because they are nominated for an award that means nothing to me personally! |
