With 15 nominees, these barely tell us anything, but another miss for Selma. Weird weird...

American Sniper and Nightcrawler keep gaining traction.

Mr. Turner definitely deserved a nomination among the period films. It and The Grand Budapest Hotel are, in my opinion, the art-direction triumphs of the year.

They nominated the previous two Hobbit films, but snubbed Battle of the Five Armies.

Maleficent deserved a nomination. Its fantasy world is much more beautiful and textured than Into the Woods'.

Visual effects yes, costumes maybe, production design no.

I watched some Maleficent featurettes and Into the Woods featurettes and there was a lot more green screen used in Maleficent.
