Re: American Cinema Editors EDDIE Awards nominations
Seems a fairly big miss for Selma. A strong sign, however, for American Sniper, Whiplash, and the indomitable Nightcrawler.

Well, not good for Selma. When was the last time a film won Best Picture without a nom here?

Re: American Cinema Editors EDDIE Awards nominations
Driving Miss Daisy (ironically also a film that dealt with the subject of race). However, back then there were only three nominations spots in total as opposed to ten nowadays (not counting animation). A miss here is not good.
It is, however, a great gain particularly for Nightcrawler, which could end up with a BP nom.

Also, a surprising miss for How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Re: American Cinema Editors EDDIE Awards nominations
Ordinary People is the last BP winner that did not get an ACE nom nor an Oscar nom for Editing (Driving Miss Daisy got one).
I think Birdman, Gone Girl and Boyhood will very likely get a nom at the Oscars. The remaining two spots will be between Selma, American Sniper, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Nightcrawler, Whiplash and The Imitation Game.

Re: American Cinema Editors EDDIE Awards nominations
I hope Nightcrawler markets itself as an Oscar film when it gets nominated for loads of awards. Somehow, I feel like it has closed the doors on marketing as it didn't think it would get any awards buzz. I would love to see some FYC ads.

Because more than anything else they want to remind me people of Gyllenhaal's wired, reptilian performance.
