Foxcatcher
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Theory of Everything
Noah
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Guardians of the Galaxy
Maleficient

No Into the Woods, surprisingly.

I'm guessing the nominees will be Foxcatcher (will win, right?), The Grand Budapest Hotel and Maleficent.

I am predicting Foxcathcer, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Theory of Everything.

Is there really much makeup in The Theory of Everything? I remember that one of the first things I thought by the end of the film was that Redmaybe and Jones sure as hell didn't look 25+ years older at the end of the film than they did at its start.

I believe it will be nominated in general recognition of Redmayne transforming into Hawking. The makeup will be regarded as part of this, what with the teeth and everything.

Maybe, though I hope you are wrong. It would not be very deserving. But I hope even more that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is not nominated. The makeup on Dane DeHaan was horrendous.

Fuck this award. It is not based on how good the makeup in a film is. It is based on "Which best picture nominee has makeup in it? That one? Okay, let's give it to that one.

Last year, Bad Grandpa should have won.
The year before the Hobbit should have won.
Etc.

Well, more than you, I'd blindly guess.

And before the follow-up question is here: I did a workshop on makeup in the past.

Also, by that logic, who are you to ever judge acting - did you go to acting school or what?

Well, acting can move people. Make-up cannot. One is an art to replicate realism and the other is an expression to elicit emotion. So I'd argue that to judge make-up, you'd need knowledge of that field. But to judge acting, you just need to be a fully functional and emotional human-being.

Algren, can you stop being difficult once in a fucking while? I can very well judge this fucking makeup as I please.

If going to a workshop on makeup makes you an expert, I guess I'm an expert too!

Snowpiercer had good makeup. I would go with GBH.

I think I'm also an expert! My cousin's husband's friend from work knew someone that attended a make-up workshop.
