While I used to love this site, I now find Metacritic's version of the same concept easier to navigate and more appealing to the eye: http://www.metacritic.com/feature/film- ... es-of-2014

As much as I enjoyed The Grand Budapest Hotel, I can't believe the out pouring love it's getting. I thought it was quite a bit below Moonrise Kingdom.

I adore both, but The Grand Budapest Hotel has more going on under the hood. A story of Europe sliding into fascism delivered via a whimsical adventure comedy, equal parts enchanting and deeply sad. It is perfectly crafted and highly imaginative, and no performance in Moonrise Kingdom comes close to what Ralph Fiennes achieves as Gustave H.

I liked Moonrise Kingdom more too, but it's nice to see Grand Budapest getting this love. It had sumptuous production values and it was a really offbeat, refreshingly original movie.

I've been a fan of Wes Anderson since Royal Tenenbaums, and The Grand Budapest Hotel is my favorite of his. Really pleasantly surprised to see other people (/critics) supporting it.

I wasn't a fan of Moonrise Kingdom. Hopefully Budapest Hotel will be better when I finally watch it.

I probably should watch Budapest Hotel again but I found it terribly overrated.
