A Most Violent Year's win is surprising. Quite a coup for A24. I am eager to see it. J. C. Chandor directed my favorite film of 2013, All Is Lost, and the cast is fantastic. Fury for Best Ensemble is an awful choice. ![]() Their love affair with Eastwood continues. |

This is by far the weirdest set of winners NBR has ever produced. |

Whoa. Definitely an impressive showing for A Most Violent Year. But where the hell is Whiplash? Not even on the independent list? |

Had American Sniper not come out, I bet they would have give Jersey Boys a mention. |

Fury had very good tank action sequences but that was about it. They apparently HATED Whiplash! Ridiculous |

If only Obvious Child could continue riding the awards wave. I hope Jenny Slate gets a Golden Globe nom. |

As for A Most Violent Year, it just looks so much like a 1970s Oscar winner. Critics lap that shit up! |

This is just weird, but I swear, I really was expecting Eastwood to win Best Directpr again. It's a fucking tradition. HOW THE HELL does The LEGO Movie get into the Top 10 of films and wins the screenplay, but loses Best Animated Film? Best Ensemble for Fury? Ehh? A Most Violent Year is on the map for a BP nom now, though. Have they not seen Selma? That and The Theory of Everything missing is very weird. |

Well I think it's great that they are not just identical to all other awards. |

I think that's an awesome list and not what anyone expected. Super excited for A Most Violent Year - great stuff. Lego Movie is a bit WTF but I guess why not. |

So no Grand Budapest Hotel, Foxcatcher, Theory of Everything & Selma. I miss anything else? Well Interstellar, but that was a lol anyway. edit: Whiplash too. |

A Most Violent Year is their first winner since Polanski 's Macbeth in 1971 to not receive a single Oscar nomination. |

I find it weird that it was completely ignored. It looked so much like a film that the Academy would eat up. |
