You always know it is a joke when there is "Best Actor" and "Channing Tatum" in the same thread. |

Tatum has been getting amazing reviews for Foxcatcher along with Carrell and Ruffalo. So it's not outside the realm of possibility. 1. Benedict Cumberbatch, The Imitation Game 2. Michael Keaton, Birdman 3. Eddie Redmayne, The Theory of Everything 4. Steve Carrell, Foxcatcher 5. David Oyelowo, Selma Alternate: Matthew McConaughey, Interstellar |

Um, are you all forgetting Mr. Turner? It is Mike Leigh and Timothy Spall has won Best Actor in Cannes already. This will get strong support from the British fraction. |

Well he's definitely still in play, but this category is super competitive. Ralph Fiennes, Joaquin Phoenix, Bill Murray are vying for a spot. And now Ben Affleck is getting the best reviews of his career. So I expect a lot of surprises in this category, not unlike last year. Also the British have a lot of candidates to pull for this year. Cumberbatch, Redmayne, Oyelowo, Fiennes, Spall, and Jack O'Connell. |

This is gonna be such a CROWDED category. I mean it always is, but this year it is gonna be insane. I'm going with Bradley Cooper Timothy Spall Benedict Cumberbatch Michael Keaton Eddie Redmayne I'll keep assuming that Steve Carrell will go supporting. |

Having seen Mr. Turner recently, I have a hard time seeing Timothy Spall miss a nom. |

If he pulls off the role, I can't see Eddie Redmayne losing this. |

They should just expand the acting categories to a couple more nominations at least. |

I feel like the BP nominees feel now like a few too many since they expanded. We don't need the same for acting categories. At that point, why bother nominating? Might as well just say everyone is up for it and just pick a winner. |

Way too many great performances go unnoticed. The acting categories were more in need of being expanded than the film category. Since that was expanded I say they should expand the acting categories a bit. |

I think the whole fun of waiting for nominations is seeing which contenders get snubbed, expanding the acting category would have less surprises. |

Don't expand. A nomination is an award in itself. Are we gonna start giving all actors "participation" ribbons too?! #PussificationOfAmerica |

It's like when guys like Judd Apatow say that the Oscars should have Comedy categories. What's the point of that? Then people would just say "Well X was nominated for an Oscar, but only in the Comedy category." I, for one, don't feel like getting a Golden Globe nomination for Comedy is nearly as prestigious as a Drama nomination. The same would happen at the Oscars. Don't get me wrong though, I know everyone complains about the Oscars being biased against certain genres, but it's the gold standard of cinema. We all complain and we all come back every single year. Those who don't care wouldn't suddenly care if acting categories were expanded, if Comedy films had their own categories, etc. |

I don't think Murray gets in. Too much bait. 1. Guy from Unbroken 2. Redmayne 3. Cumberbatch 4. Carrel 5. Keaton No particular order. Affleck can't get in. No room unfortunately. |
