Who ya got?

I'm starting to think we should have a four-person(s) rotation between the Oscars, the Globes, the Emmy's, and the Tony's (the Grammy's don't really need a charismatic host...see L.L. Cool J), with three regulars (Tina Fey & Amy Poheler, Ricky Gervais, Neil Patrick Harris) and two wild-cards, and just have them rotate to the different shows every year.

I'm half kidding about this.

The three I mentioned would be my top picks. I'd also like to see Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Conan O'Brien (might be past his prime), and Jimmy Fallon (as annoying as that has the potential to be).

Jimmy Kimmel would make sense since he is on ABC. I don't see them hiring Fallon anytime soon since he is on a rival network. Colbert could be a bold choice. Ricky Gervais probably will never do another one, and I think Tiny Fey and Amy Poheler might both want to take a break from hosting duties. Neil Patrick Harris would be a good choice.

You know, I'm watching Kevin Spacey on Kimmel doing impressions, telling jokes, etc.; he could be a good host. He'd also be good in any song/dance number they could come up with. He also was a stand-up briefly.

Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell.

Johnny Carson back from the dead - - I'd love to hear his Oscar monologue on the state of entertainment in 2015!

Don Rickles. I like equal opportunity offenders.

How many years does ABC have the rights to air the oscars?

I'd enjoy NPH. Or Colbert. Or Conan.

This will never happen, but I'd kill for Woody Allen hosting.

Not Ellen.

Somebody mentioned JT. I actually think he'd be a pretty good host.

Kimmel has to be the favorite, inevitable he gets the call eventually

Kevin Spacey or Jimmy Kimmel gets my vote

It's all about the demographic. Ellen absolutely killed it with the social media angle (Which the old school oscar watcher probably wouldn't like) but the rise in rating and the major social media (Freezing twitter) she might get asked back. Of the last few years I enjoyed Martin the most, thought I'd still take Crystal again with proper prep time (he was better than the last 3 hosts despite only having a third of the time to prepare)

I'd be down for Eddie Murphy or Mike Myers to give it a go. Meyers especially always kills when he does speaking or hosting other shows.

That's a good point gun, despite our boos, Ellen made a huge splash

Jim Carrey
Jamie Foxx
Kevin Spacey

Tina Fey or Amy Poehler separately
Whoopi Goldberg

However, considering the jump in viewers and the overall likeability of Ellen I heard she might be doing it again next year.

I'd love to see someone do it in character. Myer's switching from Austin Powers to Wayne world to Shrek would be classic.

I can't see it not being Jimmy Fallon. He could use the boost.

I think Kimmel is going to forever remain too low-rent to actually host the Oscars. He's been on the air for over a decade now and no one still particularly cares for him. If you want to host the Oscars and primarily work in TV like Kimmel does, you really need to carry a certain amount of cultural relevance like Ellen or Jon Stewart do, and Kimmel is nowhere near that level.

I know he has his own show, and I still have a split-second reaction of "Is that the Man Show guy?"

Not Win Ben Stein's Money?

For Repeats it would go Martin, Ellen, Crystal, Stewart, Rock in that order.

For new ones: Eddie Murphy, Steve Carell, Mike Meyers, Craig Ferguson. I'd be down for Tina Fey, but she is so safe at the Globes it would be hard to think she would do much else at the Oscars.

I know this would be completely out of left field but Andy Sandberg could be interesting. He as well like Ellen is all about social media and especially the digital age. Would have some cool musical numbers, has a large variety of celebs at his disposal. Though I'm not sure he'd be able to sustain a good monologue outside of that. Never really heard his standup. But the recent Emmy success could make him a contender
