 Martin Scorsese vs. William Wyler I am not sure whether that has been mentioned, but with his nom for The Wolf of Wall Street (8th overall), Scorsese tied Billy Wilder for the 2nd-most nominations in the Best Director category. He has been nominated for five out of his last six feature films. I am wondering, whether he still has enough creative juices (and lifetime) left, to catch up with William Wyler's 12. That'd be something. Scorsese is the only one I could possibly see catching up with Wyler for the next 20-25 years... If that Silence film, that already sounds Oscar-baity as hell, finally happens, that's another nom right there.
