 BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations
This award is always chosen by a public vote. The nominees are: Dane DeHaan (Kill Your Darlings, Metallica: Through the Never, The Place Beyond the Pines) George MacKay (How I Live Now, Sunshine on Leith) Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) Will Poulter (We're the Millers) Léa Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color) https://explore.ee.co.uk/baftaI am a bit surprised and sad they did not include Adèle Exarchopoulos. I am glad to see Léa Seydoux, though.

I voted for DeHaan. He has had two amazing years in a row, and I truly believe he will be an enduring star and celebrated actor.

Is this only for British rising stars?

Re: BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations
Dane DeHaan is from the very British town of...Allentown, PA. Lupita Nyong'o was born in Mexico and raised in Kenya. And Léa Seydoux is around as French as a person can be. So, no. Though MacKay and Poulter are indeed English.

Re: BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations
I notice Barkhad Abdi is absent, which is almost a racist snub. Anyone who comes out of nowhere and more than holds his own against one of the most popular actors and film stars of all-time in a very intense role should be a shoo-in for this type of award, but I am sure they thought, "Eh, how many more major roles can a gaunt Somali actor find? Let's pass on him."

Re: BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations
I was only asking because of the Poulter inclusion.
Very odd. Why not Michael B. Jordan? Or literally anyone else?

I do not believe Fruitvale Station has even opened in England yet.

Re: BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations
BAFTA does favour Brits. But then the Oscars favour Yanks, so it's all cool.

Re: BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations
Excuse me, but WHAT THE FUCK?
Will Poulter just won this. Against Nyong'o, De Haan and Seydoux. That's a joke.

Re: BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations
It's fan voting so the most popular movie's actor winning is not a surprise
(I think Poulter was really good in We're The Millers, though)
