Love the noms for Filth. Great little mean flick. Too bad it missed out on a BP nom here.

A lot of love for Under the Skin. The Selfish Giant is supposedly terrific, BTW. It'll be between that and Philomena.

They lavished Never Let Me Go with nominations, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director, and Best Actress, and therefore have my eternal respect. ;)

Anyway, it is hard to respond to this slate of nominees at this point because I sadly have not had the chance to see most of the films yet. I am excited for a number of them, though, particularly The Double, Filth, The Invisible Woman, and Locke.

The girl in How I Live Now, Harley Bird, is terrific, so her nomination for the newcomer prize is richly deserved.

I am sad Byzantium did not receive any nominations. On second thought, though, perhaps it is an eligibility issue as it is an Irish film. Trance also sadly snubbed, although I do not believe Danny Boyle made this one with any expectation of awards, and he has won plenty in recent years anyway.

They seem to have nominated all the right ones.

Glad to see Steven Knight won the screenplay award. I have not seen Locke yet, but he is a very gifted writer in general (Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises, Redemption).

I am also glad for James McAvoy and eager to see Filth upon its stateside release.

Metro Manila sounds intense. I hope it comes out here soon.
