Another good one. 1. Christoph Waltz-Inglourious Basterds 2. Christian Bale-The Fighter 3. Christoph Waltz-Django Unchained 4. Philip Seymour Hoffman-The Master 5. Tommy Lee Jones-Lincoln 6. Geoffrey Rush-The King's Speech The first five are in a league of their own, but Rush still gives a good performance. |

I almost don't know how someone couldn't pick Waltz in Basterds. Or at least have him near the top. Rarely has an Oscar been more deserved. |

The least deserving nominees of all four acting threads created by David are to be found here: Matt Damon and Jonah Hill. Ridiculous noms, IMO. |

I still find it hard to believe Jonah Hill was nominated for Moneyball. ![]() |

Waltz for Basterds. As I said in the Best Actor thread, I think Damon is the most undeserving - which is too bad given that I think he deserves much more credit than he receives for his versatility. I'm not a big fan of the work Stanley Tucci did in The Lovely Bones, either. It might be one of the best things about such a hugely disappointing movie, but it's still such a crazily one-note performance that I'm not sure how the characters didn't figure out immediately that he was responsible for Susie's murder in the film (which is a departure from the novel that made no sense whatsoever). |

^not me but Rush was my favorite thing about King's Speech. My top 3 would be Waltz, Waltz and De Niro. |
