Where did Salmon Fishing In The Yemen come from? I'm not disappointed as I thought it was a really sweet movie with wonderful performances, but I'm SHOCKED they chose that over something like This Is 40, Pitch Perfect, Ted, etc. Also, This Is 40 completely shut out. |

Django really looks like it'll be one of the 4 or 5 strongest BP contenders, in the big boy club with Lincoln, ZDT, Argo and SLP Kidman is now pretty much in lol |

Oh and Beasts of the Southern Wild was COMPLETELY shut out. |

Beasts of the Southern Wild took a bit of a hit with its shutout here. That's disappointing. Also, Kidman again! I'd laugh (and be pleasantly surprised, though I haven't seen The Paperboy) if she pulled out an Oscar nod for this movie. |

I didn't even notice Beasts got shut out. That's a big loss for it. Also, Kidman deserves a nod. The film is love-it-or-hate-it, but she delivers an excellent, ferocious performance. |

Interesting that De Niro didn't get a nom but 2 performances from Django did! |

The Globes love Tarantino. They gave Kill Bill Vol. 2 two acting noms, Vol. 1 got an acting nom for Thurman. |

It's funny/cool to see Affleck's name next to Ang Lee, Bigelow, Spielberg and Tarantino. |

Good showing for Life of Pi; would be even happier with a screenplay nom, but getting director is pretty huge IMO. I like Lee's chance now. If Hooper couldn't get a director nom here, the chance of getting in BD is becoming slimmer. Think it's down to this set of five + Russell. The Master took another hit without Picture/Director/Screenplay. The Musical/Comedy lineup is as good as I see in years, no The Tourist or some star-studded failures that GG loves to nominate in the past. |

Almost no love for Anna Karenina. ![]() Otherwise, these are fantastic. I am particularly pleased for Richard Gere, Nicole Kidman, and Rachel Weisz. Life of Pi's strong showing is also nice. Keith Urban is also nominated, I see, for his Act of Valor song. Must be an exciting day in the Kidman/Urban household. As for Salmon Fishing in the Yemen: it is definitely an amusing and cute popcorn movie, but the absolute love for it displayed here is unusual to say the least. Too bad they didn't randomly revive another, far more deserving Emily Blunt movie: Your Sister's Sister. |

No Paranorman? No Pirates? No Secret World of Arietty? For shame. |

Indeed, it is strange that Hotel Transylvania was nominated over Pirates! and ParaNorman. |

It's really f-ing strange ParaNorman didn't get nominated. Poor Perks of Being a Wallflower ![]() |

It's so nuts Salmon Fishing in the Yemen received three nominations. I really enjoyed the film and am ok with it being nominated, but this was really unexpected. At least Emily Blunt was nominated for something, even if it couldn't be Looper or Your Sister's Sister. |
