Great showings for Moonrise, Silver Linings, and Beasts.

I'm amused Silver Linings actually qualified...I think it exceeds their budget limit by $1M. The magical powers of Harvey Weinstein.

Matthew McConaughey scores two nominations. I'm starting to think a Supporting Actor nom for Magic Mike isn't that far-fetched.

These awards always feel as if they are inching closer and closer to the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Every year, they will predictably lavish awards on the year's highest profile, most star driven "indie" film (bending the budgetary rule in Silver Linings Playbook's favor).

I am glad Rosemarie DeWitt earned a nomination for her fantastic performance in Your Sister's Sister, but I must say: I don't consider it a supporting performance in any way, shape, or form. This is a film with three leads, and if anyone is supporting, it is Emily Blunt, even if she is more famous in general.

I am also excited to see Brit Marling nominated for Sound of My Voice. Too bad they didn't recognize Juno Temple in Killer Joe, though.

I am glad to see a couple nominations for Seven Psychopaths! I myself would have nominated Walken over Rockwell, but both are excellent.

Arbitrage and The Deep Blue Sea completely snubbed. Richard Gere's performance is definitely superior to Jack Black's and Bradley Cooper's, and no nomination for Rachel Weisz is just criminal.

I'm glad Wallflower got a "First Feature" nomination and incredibly pleased by Rosemarie Dewitt's nomination. She was so wonderful in Your Sister's Sister. I actually did consider her supporting myself.

It isn't far-fetched at all. I've been predicting him to get in since June.

How is Magic Mike independent?

The only qualification for these awards is that the budget is $20M or less. Magic Mike only cost $7M.

Well that's just silly.

Silver Linings Playbook should have been ineligible. A budget above 20 million has been widely reported.

But yeah, it doesn't seem fair that Silver Linings was eligible. Where do they draw the line?

Wherever Harvey Weinstein tells them to draw it.

She used to speak of being "normal sized" and how she wouldn't conform. Well, I guess Hollywood standards get to them all. The anorexic bitch. Now, she can't even differentitate herself as being "normal sized". She's losing her specialities by the day.

Maybe the Oscars can follow-suit with a Silver Linings sweep. That would be sweet!!!!

My favorite part was after the "Beast It!" sequence and the camera cut to an obviously confused Quvenzhane Wallis, who mouthed "What?!?"

lol. That or the Safety Not Guaranteed screenwriter having to get escorted from the ceremony for being too wasted.

I'm happy for Silver Linings Playbook, but it still kinda chated its way into these awards.

Yes, a sad day for so-called "independent spirit." Silver Linings is Big Hollywood through and through.
