Argo Les Misérables Life of Pi Lincoln Silver Linings Playbook (I always have to remind myself this is adapted. It has such a Best Original Screenplay feel, lol.) |

In my dreams The Perks of Being a Wallflower would be nominated. Sadly my dreams are not reality ![]() |

Perks would have a shot at a Screenplay nomination if it were in the Original category, which is much less competitive. |

I'm pretty sure Beasts of the Southern Wild is in - it's the kind of movie that the writers will usually embrace, even in a crowded year. |

It would be absolutely deserving of this nomination. The amount of magic, wonder and meaning the film gets out of it's limited budget has to be credited at least in part to the imaginative and humane script. |

To me, Beasts of the Southern Wild seems the definition of a director and cast driven film, not a writer's movie. |

Forcing the 5-year-old girl to recite imitation-Malick "deep thoughts" is not its finest aspect. |

It tied the movie together. Likewise the story itself tied together a wealth of concepts - family drama, climate change disaster, the bayou lifestyle, magical realism, hero journey - into a film so poetically cinematic one wouldn't believe it was originally a stage play. The play itself, Juicy and Delicious, is about a boy coping with the impending loss of his father. Beasts of the Southern Wild did a very artful job adding those additional layers while preserving the play's themes of loss and strength. |

What a race. Argo, Lincoln or Silver Linings Playbook could all win this. I think this win will decide about Best Picture... |
