http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount ... ermed.html Spoiler warning, that trailer gives away much of the movie. It looks like Cage and Caine both do a good job, the trailer has a quirky charm, and it's a long trailer so you can get a sense of the performances. Gore Verbinski has given us the Ring which resonated with the public and of course Pirates, now it looks like he's made a solid character drama. It comes out in the fall. It doesn't look groundbreaking to me, but does look well acted and interesting and could get some notice. I'm looking forward to it. |

Levy, a fellow poster, has already seen the movie a while ago and he didn't like it very much. ![]() Doesn't look all that great either, in my opinion. |

Not only did he win before for Leaving Las Vegas but he was nominated again for Adaptation. Then you have the fact that he's part of the Coppola family. With the right role at the right time, he could easily get nominated again. |

I think Nicolas Cage is a great actor and has been choosing some great roles over the past few years. I thought this was going to be released in the Spring/Summer. the trailer has been out for QUITE some time. If Matchstick Men couldn't get him a nomination, I doubt this will though. It doesn't even look like as strong a movie as that one (with actually quite a similar subject) |

It was scheduled to be released the first weekend of April, and I've seen the trailer quite a few times in theater. Now it's getting postponed to an unspecified date. Overall, the movie looks pretty generic to me. |

No. If this is not as good as Matchstick Men, then fat chance. |

No nominations for The WeaterMan but if successful it should land Verbinski as one of the hottest directors working today. |

Yeah, I think that this is the project that'll determine how big a sucess Verbinski rather then Cage is. He's just had The Ring and Pirates of the Carribean, and after this will have the Pirates sequels. If it's not a hit, no worries, it'll just mean he'll be a mostly commerical director. If it's a hit though, I think it'd give him serious juice in the industry though as being able to make nearly anything a hit. |
