We have a thread dedicated to which film will receive the most Oscar nominations this year, but which do you expect will score only one? Outside of the obvious documentaries, animated features, and shorts. I'd say: A Dangerous Method (Supporting Actor) J. Edgar (Actor) Super 8 (Sound Mixing or Sound Editing) The Tree of Life (Cinematography) Warrior (Supporting Actor) I also have a feeling Anonymous, Jane Eyre, or W.E. might sneak in with one apiece, maybe Art Direction, Costumes, or Original Score. |

Other possibilities from the films that are contending for a nom in the big 8 categories: We Need to Talk about Keven (Actress) Shame (Actor) Bridesmaids (Supporting Actress) Beginners (Supporting Actor) Drive (Supporting Actor) Margin Call (Original Screenplay) Young Adult/50/50/Win Win (Original Screenplay, separated out from Margin Call since I think these three are competing with each other for a spot, while MC is locked) |

Shame, definitely. Sadly. I see Beginners getting an Original Screenplay nomination. Drive, perhaps, though it could score a random tech. |

If anything, it should be the other way around... |

Margin Call has done better in critics awards as a film than the other two, and dealing with an "important" topic helps; also WGA isn't really relevant in this case since it wasn't eligible. |

As a film, maybe (mostly Best Debut mentions), but 50/50 got way way more attention with its screenplay, didn't it? Winning NBR among other things... |

I'm honestly not predicting Margin Call at all? The way I see it, it had its moment in the race, but it didn't seem to catch. I don't sense it's on people's minds anymore. Spacey and Irons are certainly out of supporting actor race. The screenplay might be stronger, but I wouldn't in a thousand years call it locked. |
