No Drive or The Tree of Life. I expected Bridesmaids given this is PGA, but The Ides of March continues to show strength. |

To me, the top 7 remain to be The Artist, Hugo, The Descendants, The Help, War Horse, Midnight in Paris, and Moneyball. And 5 other contenders are The Tree of Life, Drive, Bridesmaids, Dragon Tattoo, and The Ides of March. Can't see anybody else outside these 12 to make it. TTSS needs guilds to make a comeback, but it's not happening. |

The Ides of March's nomination surprises me. The Globes, sure, to go down on Clooney. But this nomination indicates real strength. It's crazy it's better positioned in the race than Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. |

Ides of March is easily one of the best made movies of the year in my opinion. Screw that its not really original, it is a tightly made and tense political drama that gives great insight into the workings of modern campaigns. I am surprised it hasn't gotten more recognition among critics honestly. |

It's a very entertaining movie, but I wouldn't put The Ides of March and "great insight" in the same sentence. |

I feel we can now safely say Deathly Hallows isn't in the Best Picture conversation. |

When everything was hypothetical, a convincing enough case could have been made. |

So many nominees kind of takes the fun out of it. All the major players were safe. |

Libs is correct. (Though if The Artist wins SAG, it'll be even more holy-shit strong.) But The Help could easily win there. And DGA might go to Scorsese, which still won't hurt The Artist's Best Picture Oscar chances. |
