 WGA Eligibity Update
Films not eligible for original screenplay: The Artist, Beginners, The Iron Lady, The Lady, Like Crazy, Margin Call, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Melancholia, Rango, Take Shelter Films not eligible for adapted screenplay: Albert Nobbs, Carnage, Drive, Jane Eyre, My Week with Marilyn, Sarah's Key, Shame, The Skin I Live In, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/in-contenti ... rs-for-wgaSo this means Midnight in Paris is pretty much a lock to win original screenplay here and The Descendants should win adapted.

 Re: WGA Eligibity Update
Ugh, this is so lame when they do this every year. It hurts. Oh, and what is Shame based on? I was under the impression it's an original screenplay.

Oh, and Martha Marcy May Marlene is pissed on yet again. Poor movie.

 Re: WGA Eligibity Update
I don't get why some of these were eliminated for these categories. Is Martha Marcy May Marlene based on a true story or something? I'm sure things like that have happened, yes, but to my knowledge the screenplay is an original.

 Re: WGA Eligibity Update
The writer(s) must not be part of the WGA.

 Re: WGA Eligibity Update
So....basically if your script is adapted from another medium, it is not eligable.
And...if you're play is remotely based off something else, then it is not eligable from original?

 Re: WGA Eligibity Update
It's my understanding this has nothing to do with the content the screenplays themselves and everything to do with whether the writers are WGA members or not.
