Re: National Board of Review Winners (HUGO)
Wow. That's a pretty huge boost for Hugo.
The Descendants also had a great showing here. Shailene Woodley is locked and loaded for a nomination at this point, imo.
Curious that The Help got an Ensemble mention but wasn't in the top 10. Then again, NBR has always had a hard-on for Eastwood so J. Edgar's inclusion isn't terribly surprising.

Re: National Board of Review Winners (HUGO)
These are amazing.
Many of my favorite films of the year are included here in one form or another. Hugo is a wonderful, surprising, deserving winner. I also -love- the "breakthrough" win for Felicity Jones.

Re: National Board of Review Winners (HUGO)
Drive and 50/50 got some love. Awesome. I actually predicted Drive to be in their top 10. Same with J. Edgar since they seem to love Clint and last year Hereafter made it. I got quite a few right with my predictions of their top 10, but didn't include Hugo, The Ides of March, or Harry Potter. I decided to be different and predicted Margin Call for Best Ensemble .

Re: National Board of Review Winners (HUGO)
Even though I know it's not going to be an Oscar contender in any way, I'm glad Another Earth has been remembered thus far for various indie awards/notices. A terrific, beautiful accomplishment by Mike Cahill and Brit Marling with next to no money.

Re: National Board of Review Winners (HUGO)
These are going to send online Oscar watchers into a frenzy. Hugo for Picture and Director, Tilda Swinton for Best Actress... They've given a huge boost to a couple "in the race, but a bit on the fringe" contenders.

Moneyball and Midnight in Paris shut out.
Oh, and Martha Marcy May Marlene, too.

Also no Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Its buzz is definitely not taking off with awards season as I was expecting.

I'm not too worried about TTSS though. Reviews are superb. It will get in the race soon.

I wish the acting categories could have more than 5 . MMMM has just had a horrible week. It's not showing up anywhere. It's too bad because it's a cool, creepy movie. Not sure where its campaign went wrong. Maybe the movie, with its hugely ambiguous ending and slow burn pacing, just didn't resonate as much as expected. Fox Searchlight certainly has their hands full with The Descendants, Shame, and The Tree of Life. Can't imagine them pushing MMMM too hard for much longer.

Re: National Board of Review Winners (HUGO)
This also hasn't been a good week for Glenn Close.

Yeah, Martha Marcy May Marlene deserves a lot more love. It was brilliant. Harry Potter J. Edgar's inclusion is a joke.

Re: National Board of Review Winners (HUGO)
It's sad Elizabeth Olsen doesn't look like she'll get much attention this Oscar season. This also means MMMM won't be opening here. Not unless it magically gets nominated for an Oscar.
