I s'pose my oddest prediction is Daniel Craig in Best Actor. I can just see it happening. He's a big star, and they can have him on the red carpet from the Bond set.

And I don't see them going for Michael Shannon for Take Shelter or Michael Fassbender for Shame. Maybe Fassbender, but the HFPA is so...HFPA. Ryan Gosling is a solid possibility, though I'm not sure if it'd be for Ides or Drive.

I personally see Knightley missing. I could see Elizabeth Olsen or Kirsten Dunst in her place.

Not Olsen. Dunst, maybe, if they connected with the movie.

You see them going for Carell over Owen Wilson?

Post subject:  Re: Golden Globes - Predictions

I could possibly see it. It's not like Wilson's performance in Midnight in Paris was beloved. It was the magical experience of the movie that people loved. I don't think any performances stood out.

I also can't see them missing out on the chance of getting Ryan Gosling there since he's such a hot star this year. Wouldn't rule out him being nominated somewhere. I'm hoping it's for Drive, but could even see him getting into the Supporting category for Crazy, Stupid, Love.

I wouldn't be surprised to see The Muppets get in for Comedy/Musical. Sadly if it does it would replace 50/50 as the others I'm picking seem pretty safe. I also wouldn't be surprised if Amy Adams was nominated for Actress in a Comedy/Musical.

Please, please let Kirsten Dunst get nominated for Best Actress (Drama) for Melancholia. I will cry if this film doesn't get any recognition this season. It's a masterpiece.

If The Muppets gets nominated for anything besides like Best Song I will be pissed. ;)

8AM EST. I'm sure they'll be on most morning shows, E! and an online stream as always.

Post subject:  Re: Golden Globes - Predictions

I seriously hope they don't nominate Armie Hammer. Don't let the bizarre SAG nod turn into momentum, please.

You just know there's going to be at least one crazy nomination tomorrow morning. :P Angelina Jolie in Best Director? Depp nominated for Pirates 4 and The Rum Diary? Tom Hanks for Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Larry Crowne? Jennifer Aniston (Horrible Bosses) for Best Supporting Actress? You just know one will happen...

I wish they would recognize Brendan Gleeson's terrific, hilarious performance in The Guard. So much more deserving than, say, two nods for Depp.

Please have some pleasant surprises and not awful ones. Would love to see Drive get a Best Picture (Drama) nomination.

I could see them doing Aniston for Best Supporting or Jolie for Best Director.

Post subject:  Re: Golden Globes - Predictions

I hope Carey Mulligan will score a nomination. It would be a shame if Jennifer Aniston got in for Best Supporting Actress but not her.

lol, right? George Clooney even kicks David Fincher, Steven Spielberg, etc. out of Best Director. It seems loving The Descendants wasn't enough Sir George love for the HFPA this year.
