I was just looking through Rotten Tomatoes and noticed that Arthur Christmas is sitting on a 93% average and still going strong with 26 positive reviews and only 2 negative reviews. I'm thinking it has a chance since it's been a mediocre year for animated movies. |

Would love to see it happen personally. Looks like a really cute movie and I'm glad reviews are great. |

Doubt it. Between its terrific reviews, Spielberg/Peter Jackson pedigree, and seeming broad appeal, it's hard to imagine Tintin losing this. It used to be a matter of eligibility. But it's eligible now. (I'm pulling for Rango myself.) |

I'd be thrilled to see Aardman win the Oscar! |

Because if it's just animators, they're probably not going to give it to a motion capture film. I haven't seen Arthur Christmas but I love Aardman and love to see them get another Oscar. My worry is that Pixar will dominate again even though they produced their worst film ever with Cars 2. |

Since it's down to Rango and Tintin, I'm pleased with this category this year. I would be satisfied with either winning, though I do prefer Rango. |

I think Tintin's gonna take it. It's got the reviews, it's more mainstream-friendly, and it'll give the Academy a chance to give Spielberg another Oscar. |

You're probably right. Though Rango did better box office. |

Don't forget that Tintin's very placement in this category is kind of controversial. It's the filmmakers' own fault. They always insist mo-cap is something new and distinct from real animation--at least, until Oscar time rolls 'round. |

Not only that, Tintin has the stink of BO failure surrounding it - - even though it will make more money than Arthur Christmas, the Academy will recognize it's failure to connect with audiences. |

I think that's a much less relevant issue. Is this the way they recognized how Wallace & Gromit and Spirited Away, two movies that made far less than Tintin yet took home the award, failed to connect with audiences? |
