 Re: Hugo
If it is very true to the source material (which the first trailer didn't appear to be, but maybe that's misleading) - DEFINITELY. The topic of the magic of cinema is one that the Academy should love.

 Re: Hugo
If this does end up getting Oscar attention it would be one of those Oscar movies that comes out of nowhere. It certainly didn't look like an Oscar film.

 Re: Hugo
I hope it cleans up in the tech categories, which can happen if voters aren't scared off by the box office. That massive train station set is astounding.

 Re: Hugo
Unless the low box office profile is too big a factor to ignore, I don't see how this misses Best Picture...? It's an ode to early cinema and film restoration. It's BEAUTIFUL on every possible technical level. Ben Kingsley gives a terrific dramatic performance. There's adventure, comedy, poignancy galore.

 Re: Hugo
I certainly hope it gets the BP nom.

 Re: Hugo
I thunk nominations-wise it'll be pretty big. I expect BP/BD/Screenplay nods, along with some tech ones. Maybe 7-8 noms in total.
