Could Warrior be a contender for something?
Maybe acting awards? The reviews sound really good, with 85% and 8/10 after 20 reviews at RT.

Eh, if Diane Lane couldn't get a nomination for Secretariat I don't think this will score anything either. Then again, you do raise a good point about how few contenders there are for Best Actor...

I think it will be overshadowed by Drive this month. The latter has even better reviews (93%/8.8 average at RT) and should have better legs at the box office.

For the record, I really don't see Drive becoming a major Oscar threat. The acting is fine across the board, but no one really stands out. Albert Brooks's villain is vaguely menacing, but he's certainly no Hans Landa. I think that Editing and especially Sound are it's best shots of nominations.

I haven't even seen Drive yet, and I know it's not a major contender. From the sound of it, it's a very stylish, icy, art-house action picture, which means it will instantly earn an adoring cult audience, but I highly doubt it'll play especially well with the old-and-square Academy. Plus it's being handled by FilmDistrict, a fledgling distributor with no real clout yet. MAYBE Albert Brooks can squeak into Supporting Actor if his against-type casting as a cruel villain catches people's eyes. Warrior has potential, but it's also so early... It's going to depend on how it's received. Obviously reviews and word-of-mouth will be very positive, but it needs to catch fire and turn heads and stay relevant.

Is FilmDistrict owned or heavily associated with Sony somehow? They sure have a full plate between Midnight in Paris, The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, A Dangerous Method, Carnage, and Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star.

Hmm, 90% with 8.1/10 after 30 reviews. Can't see it being completely ignored if it is actually a financial success too.

Just sayin'.

This isn't even a blind side let alone a fighter, no more than 2 noms and no wins imo.
