Twice before, the years when ROTK and Slumdog won.

Why isn't Monique presenting Supporting Actor. Supporting Actor says undecided, so it's questionable whether Waltz will come back. Glad they got Bigelow to co-present Director though.

Banksy should wear a Oprah mask on stage.

Director before acting? That looks like a "we want The King's Speech to close the night with back to back wins" move to me.

It's actually a pretty normal order, if I remember correctly.

Wasn't it Best Director and then Best Picture last year, though? When Bigelow and The Hurt Locker were expected to take BD and BP.

It definitely seems their recent M.O. has been to design the order around the expected winners. And Firth winning--and then the entire King's Speech team storming the stage--is the best "emotional" ending for the telecast.

Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman

How many times have these two been paired up together at awards shows? :P

I only started watching these last decade, but I remember it always being Director then Picture to close the show.

Also from Nikki FInke, Supporting Actress will be presented by Kirk Douglas it seems.

Yep, that's the way it has been. For me it will be weird for them to do Director and then Actor and Actress. I'm not used to that :P.

The director category will feel less...important.

In terms of mainstream viewership, though, it's a good idea. There's more 'suspense' regarding acting categories. John Q. Public doesn't much care if Fincher or Hooper wins.

Yeah, well, I'm a traditionalist, unless it's in regard to marriage being between a man and a woman :P.

I'm excited for the awards tomorrow night, but I'm kind of hoping not everything goes as expected. I want some shockers. And I don't mean Helena Bonham-Carter winning Best Supporting Actress ;).

There's no hyphen in Helena Bonham Carter's name. Stop doing that! :P

I seriously hope Bale wins Best Supporting Actor. Such an AMAZING performance. Yet at this point I would almost be surprised if he won... If The King's Speech is seriously so loved, it's hard not to assume a lot of its ardent fans will throw a vote Rush's way.

I wonder if Bale'll even be at the ceremony. I know he's supposed to be shooting The 13 Women of Nanjing right now.

Oh. LOL. I for some reason thought there was :P. Thanks for the heads up ;).

At this point, despite him winning many previous awards for this performance, it will almost be a surprise if Bale wins. I'm seeing it going in Rush's favor. People just love him in SPEECH. He's the heart and soul of it ;).

Think that's an indication Fincher will win director.
