AMPASquares don't want any Banksy shenanigans
The will-he, won’t-he riddle about Banksy and the Oscars – will he show up? won’t he be in disguise? – has a solution. After the Oscar nominees luncheon on Monday, Pete Hammond reports, the Academy president, Tom Sherak, and executive director, Bruce Davis, “huddled at a table” with Jaimie D’Cruz, a producer of “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” Banksy’s Oscar-nominated documentary. They worked through the potential situations of Banksy winning and having to appear on stage, which he would presumably do in costume, his costume of choice being a monkey mask. Undignified, the Academy felt. “If Banksy isn’t comfortable showing his face on the Kodak stage, Sherak said, then the Academy isn’t comfortable having him on that stage,” Mr. Hammond writes. Instead, the Academy officials and Mr. D’Cruz agreed, if the movie wins, Mr. D’Cruz will accept “without any additional shenanigans.”
But Banksy will receive his little naked gold man because he has turned in all the official paperwork the Academy requires, certifying that he will not resell or give away the statuette.
“We have a signed form,” Mr. Sherak told Mr. Hammond, “and they were able to give us affidavits and enough legal stuff to make us feel comfortable that it really was he who signed it.”
Bummer. We were hoping for kitty Banksy.http://carpetbagger.blogs.nytimes.com/2 ... rpetbagger

I presume he'll do what he wants anyway (if the film wins).

I hope he descends from the ceiling in a flying monkey costume, it would be the highlight of the entire Oscars ever.
