Ben Affleck's traditional, well-reviewed crime drama was a box office hit in the fall, almost grossing $100 million. It's also shown up several times during the awards season (Jeremy Renner was just nominated for a Globe and a SAG award for his supporting performance). It's easy to see The Town is driven by populist passion and could sneak into the Best Picture ten. The DVD/Blu-ray release on Friday can't hurt awareness.
