 Will Hurt Locker or Avatar win more Oscars? I'm thinking Avatar, unless the AMPAS loooooove Hurt Locker. I'd be more confident in Hurt Locker if Anthony Mackie had gotten a Supporting Actor nomination.

Re: Will Hurt Locker or Avatar win more Oscars? No, thanks. This is the first time in years where the winner of Best Picture wasn't set in stone. Plus, the new 'Best Picture' will either be the highest or lowest grossing winner ever. This is a question worth asking.

Re: Will Hurt Locker or Avatar win more Oscars? To answer your question, I was abroad that spring and didn't watch the Oscars. But reading that Crash won Best Picture was a surprise, yes. This year, neither one winning would be a surprise. Horse races for Best Picture are very uncommon.
Some people are betting money on this specific topic.

Even ignoring the ten nominees and different voting system, there is not one movie that is so far ahead of the pack. The Hurt Locker only made 12 million dollars. I'd bet there are people in the Academy who do not want the winner of Best Picture to be the lowest grossing (and certainly least theatrically attended) ever.

Re: Will Hurt Locker or Avatar win more Oscars? I think so Avatar will win more technical awards than Hurt Locker if not the big ones. They are anyways competing against each other in most of the categories and I think in Technical Awards Hurt Locker is going to loose give or take a few.
