The Hurt Locker winning Best Picture is a nice surprise. The last three BFCA winners went on to win Best Picture. I am still iffy on The Hurt Locker's chances, but...hmm.

Up in the Air was hurt the most. Missing Picture AND Actor gotta hurt.

And it's a second tie in a row for Best Actress and last time it was Streep also who tied with Hathaway!

Very solid showing for Inglourious Basterds too with three wins.

Up in the Air was trashed in place of my prediction of Inglorious Basterds.

Avatar grabs 6 awards but all technical. Failed to impress at any major awards. Though it was not nominated for Best Score and Best Song which is surprising. It may loose either Cinematography and/or Art Direction and may get Best Score and/or Best Song. That will still leave it with the highest number of awards at the big night :)

The Hurt Locker won only two but the biggest awards of the night. Though it might not have the same run at Oscars but one of the big trophies is nearly guaranteed :)

The Best Actress that has the toughest draw this year did leave lot of people unsatisfied even with a tie.

Inglorious Basterds though has 3 awards one of them is not available on the Academy night (Ensemble)

Once they gave Avatar Best Action Movie, I thought it's pretty much out of the race for Picture since like Up, it's a way to spread the wealth. But then seeing it win all the techs made me think again that it might just sweep. Then The Hurt Locker came out and won the final two. Pretty interesting night.

I hope THE HANGOVER doesn't win Comedy at the Globes too. I want (500) DAYS OF SUMMER to win.

Seriously if The Hurt Locker takes both Picture and Director at the Oscars this will be among my least favorite award seasons ever! I can seriously see why someone would award it Cinematography and Director, but anything else is meh.

Looks more and more likely like this is down to Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep. Enough people just haven't seen Carey Mulligan's performance. With an Academy going at such lengths for ratings that they'll expand to ten nominees, and make so many changes this year, they'll be very receptive to the public's choice as best actress and its very hard to ignore a $250 m run from The Blind Side. This is Erin Brockovich the sequel but its more late in the game...
