I really didn't expect Up because I thought animated films were not eligible. Hollywood is hellbent on finally awarding Pixar. Anyway, these awards don't change much. Invictus shows that it is still a very solid contender. A Serious Man didn't get in but An Education did which is a bit surprising but I suppose it is more surprising that An Education made it than that A Serious Man missed. Both are very small. Good for Star Trek and District 9 making it but then again but I think that was expected. If any film will replace Nine in the Top 10 for the Oscars, then it'll be one of these two. District 9 is more likely because it looks to have more passionate supporters. I suppose the biggest shock is to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs missing Best Animated in favor of...9?!! |

An Education and Invictus are finally locks. So I guess The Blind Side is dead, and it is looking more and mroe likely that Cloudy could miss out in Animated. |

An Education is definitely a lock if it hadn't been before. I always think BAFTA will ensure its nomination as the only real British production in contention. A Serious Man took a hit and still occupies the No. 9 position in the ranking, but it looks to be a safe #9. Nine took a big big hit. It can afford missing anywhere but not PGA, especially not with 10 available slots. |
