That's right.. It was bad enough the server went down for this site at of all times, during this years Oscars preventing any interaction of posting while the show went on, but the fact that Chris Rock just flat out Sucked and was completely out of his element with this show shows me that sometimes change is not a good thing.... Everytime the Camera panned out to the audience during the punchline to many of his jokes, the crowd just didn't seem into it.. We come back from a commercial break and instead of the traditional Oscar Orchestera music playing and the audience clapping, we come back to dead silence.. :???: Another thing that made this years Oscars a BUST was having the Nominees stand up on stage while announcing the catagories and having them stand out in the audience while announcing them as well.. ![]() Also, Congratulations on Mr.Eastwood and his Million Dollar Baby Win which obviously proved my "RAY" win wrong and that's fine.. =D> It's obvious I'm not the only one who was wrong on this catagory, especially for those who voted SIDEWAYS to win.. I guess I do have to wonder whether Martin Scorcese is on Suicide watch now that he's been snubbed YET again??? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All in all, in the next 24 hours, I'm gonna predict the overall ratings for this show will be at an all time low in the history of the Oscars and Gil Cates will be forced to go back to tradition and stop trying to pander to the teen crowd in getting them to tune into this boring ass show.. In short: This Years 2005 Oscars was a BUST.. |

Marty of the 00s is not Marty of the 70s. Oscar's have been a bust for awhile now, aside from the few big moments when the big awards are given out...the rest is filler that nobody cares about. Atleast it wasnt as bad as last year, which was tremendously boring. |

They could've just as easily split the awards with Scorcese getting BEST DIRECTOR and Eastwood getting BEST PICTURE or vice versa.. |

I thought Rock was decent. I did hate the new presentation methods, such as doing it from the audience and having the nominees on stage... a really stupid idea. I also noticed on several categories they didn't show any clips from the film, which would have been helpful on those categories such as short animated feature that I have no clue about any of them. There were a few groovy wins... I like that Morgan Freeman and Jamie Foxx both got it... good choices. It was also nice to see Incredibles get a few wins. But, there was still a lot of boring moments. I wish they'd scrap the songs, and instead show longer clips of the best picture nominees throughout the ceremony. The clip where they went to the theater and asked everyone their favorite movie and people said crap such as White Chicks and AvP, and none had seen Sideways or M$B was hilarious. |

I agree...although I think aviator deserved something on it being a good film on its own. I loved million dollar baby, but it didnt deserve THAT much love |

Maybe thats sending a message that many of these films like MDB or SIDEWAYS are critic touted movies and the general moviegoer doesn't care about them and are more concerned about the popular movies like, AVP then overly critic praised movies like MDB or SIDEWAYS.. ![]() |

That's what the craptacular People's Choice awards are for. The Oscars retain a little class by nominating quality films - regardless of popularity or box office - such as M$B and Sideways. Box office should never factor into the Academy's decision, IMO. |

What?? ![]() ![]() I'm confused, BKB, as to what you are saying. Do you sincerely believe a movie has to clear a certain box office level to be a worthy Oscar winner? If so, just out of curiousity, at what dollar amount do you feel a movie has to reach to be considered a worthy winner/contender? |

Thats awfully good for a movie that you think is supposedly " Overated " Even if it didnt win best picture it was still gonna pass 80mil - but now it'll probably pass 100mil, so it's all gravy. Oh and since it went to wide release it was never at #7  |

I love Chris Rock and all, but Hosting The Oscars was an odd choice.. |

BKB_The_Man wrote: http://aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=19517 ![]() Harry Knowles isn't intelligent enough to appreciate a film that doesn't have explosions and FX to keep his fat ass awake. He's the last person I would ever pay attention to concerning a film's quality. PROOF THAT HE DOESN'T PAY ATTENTION... " I like Eastwood's MILLION DOLLAR BABY. It's a nice flick about a fairly obvious story, told better throughout any number of fantastic boxing films." I think that speaks volumes about how he just didn't see the movie that everybody else saw, if he saw it at all. |
