If you're suggesting there's a negative correlation between Oscar trophies and quality, well, let me tell you: Return of the King won 11! Wait... Gigi went 9-for-9! Hold up... Out of Africa won 7! Uh oh... Casablanca won 3! Ah, I see. |

You overlook the potent powers of persuasion held by the monstrous Leslie Caron! |

Yeah, it's not good. I think they just wanted to celebrate Minnelli and Freed. |

Out of Africa is remembered for Meryl Streep? And here, all these years, I thought it was remembered for shit nothing. |

Oscars have zero value. I disagree. Oscars are helping slumdog gross at least 100M more than what it would have made without. That is just here. WW it would be HUGE. |

What about Editing? Not that The Departed isn't well-edited, but it's old-hat by now. |

Why so uptight? I ain't predicting Up, no way, no how, either. Though as long as it's great, it'll probably be five or six. Ratatouille got that much in a really competitive year. Ever see Virginia Woolfe? That's what my relationship with the Oscars is like. Movie fanatic thing. |
