Of all the winners and nominees, I think Daldry, Pitt, and Cruz stand the best chance of being first back to the Oscars. Didn't bother with the nominated producers (The Descent 2, Robin Hood) Danny Boyle - Nothing. Maybe 28 Months later? Stephen Daldry - My Fair Lady remake and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. David Fincher - He's attached in various forms to 7 films: Ness, Black Hole, The Goon, Heavy Metal, The Killer, Rendevous with Rama, and Chef. Ron Howard - Angels and Demons this summer. Then Arrested Development. Gus Van Sant - He's Executive Producing an Allen Ginsberg biopic. Richard Jenkins - Lasse Hallström's Dear John (Nicolas Sparks novel). Frank Langella - Richard Kelly's The Box. All Good Things afterwards. Sean Penn - Terrence Malick's Tree of Life. Brad Pitt - Terrence Malick's Tree of Life. Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. Mickey Rourke - The Infomers (Bret Easton Ellis adaptation). Maybe Iron Man 2. Anne Hathaway - Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Angelina Jolie - Philip Noyce's Salt. Melissa Leo - Obscurity. Just kidding, she has like 15 films coming out this year. But they're all smaller than Frozen River. Meryl Streep - Nora Ephron's Julie & Julia. Kate Winslet - vacation. Josh Brolin - Jonah Hex. And a Woody Allen film. Robert Downey, Jr - The Soloist, Sherlocke Holmes, Iron Man 2. Philip Seymour Hoffman - Richard Curtis' The Boat That Rocked. He's then directing Jack Goes Boating. Michael Shannon - Werner Herzog's My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done. Amy Adams - Nora Ephron's Julie & Julia, Night At The Museum 2, and Leap Year. Penelope Cruz - Rob Marshall's Nine and Pedro Almodóvar's Los Abrazos rotos. Viola Davis - Madea Goes To Jail, State of Play and F Gary Gray's Law Abiding Citizen Taraji P. Henson -Bill Duke's Not Easily Broken and Tim Story's Hurricane Season. Marisa Tomei - Duplass Brothers film. |

I mean in general. Cronenberg and Lynch don't make so many expensive flops. Hell, they're not even as perpetually misunderstood by critics who supposedly love them. Tideland's the most underrated film of 2006. |

And who's looking most likely to get nommed again soon - Stephen Daldry. I bet he'll be one of those directors who'll scoop 4-5 noms without winning. I mean, let's face it - I doubt he has ever come evn close to winning despite three noms so far. |

Whoa, Daldry is directing the My Fair Lady remake with Keira? He's got a track record that's building up for getting Oscars for his actresses. |
