Last year was 32 million viewers and a 10.7 rating in adults 18-49. |

I think higher. It was pretty hyped and Slumdog will bring alot of viewers. I think there was no passion among viewers for most movies nominated last year. There was this year: Slumdog, Button (mixed but yeah some passion), and Ledger/TDK. Plus, it seems like the movie industry is doing EXCELLENT the past couple months so I presume that translates into more interest in the biggest award show for movies. I think it will hit around 34-35 million |

Higher. I thought it was a good show, but even if you don't consider that at all, it's not too hard to get higher ratings and beat last year when the show last year got the lowest ratings in history! Peace, Mike |

Probably the same? Or slightly above. I won't be surprised if it's lower. Ratings are falling (Grammys and Super Bowl increased though) in general. Oh and NASCAR did not get rained out. I wonder what kind of ratings that will get. Also, there was a Laker game. L.A. market has been gaga over the team's winning performances lately. |

There is no correlation between the years quality and viewership. Last year was the lowest ratings ever for one of the best years ever. This year I suspect ratings to be up slightly for the reasons raffiki mentioned. |

Good job, Hugh and co. I'm going to try the Jackman hairdo. Our hair is virtually the same. Thick, same shade of brown, tousled-looking and etc. |

I'm happy ratings were up. Maybe this will encourage them to continue the relative speediness of last night's telecast. |

I hope Condon and Mark come back and these overnights should solidify that. I think the main changes they made worked for the most part. With a more even slate of Best Picture nominees, maybe the ratings can go even higher. |

It certainly destroys the debate that no one would tune in because no one had seen The Reader/Frost Nixon/Milk. |

I think Slumdog and Benjamin Button, as well as the allure of Heath, were strong enough to cancel that out, personally. I mean, it's not like all five nominees have grossed under $30M. Benjamin Button has done nearly $125M domestically and Slumdog is on its way to possibly beating The Departed and Juno and becoming the highest grossing winner/nominee/anything since Return of the King. |

Hmm, now the link has changed their story. It reports 33.6 million viewers, instead of 36 million. And it shows the viewership dropping over the night. Why such a change? Weird. Peace, Mike |

Well it will probably end up with like 34 million viewers which would be better than last year and might keep it out of the bottom 3. |
