There have been 4 ties in Oscar history:

1949 (22nd) DOCUMENTARY (Short Subject)
A Chance To Live; and So Much for So Little

1968 (41st) ACTRESS
Katharine Hepburn, The Lion in Winter; and Barbra Streisand, Funny Girl

1986 (59th) DOCUMENTARY (Feature)
Artie Shaw: Time Is All You've Got; and Down and Out in America

1994 (67th) SHORT FILM (Live Action)
Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life; and Trevor

If you could have one category tied, which would it be?

Best Actor in 1931 was officially a tie between Fredric March and Wallace Beery, both recieved awards, although March technically won by one vote.

That's why I didn't include it because it wasn't an actual tie in votes received and the AMPAS had since changed the qualifications for a tie.

Ledger & Downey Jr., or more realistically, Penn & Rourke.
